Functional Training:
Your body moves through space in multiple planes, and must stabilize itself while doing so. A properly designed functional exercise program increases strength not only in the muscles that create movement, but also in the core structural muscles that stabilize your body during movement.

When it comes to increasing applicable muscle strength, functional training is far superior to other types of resistance training because exercises are performed in multiplanar, unstable environments.

This has great advantages over exercises performed on seats, benches and machines because it forces you to move in different directions while stabilizing yourself. Some of the main benefits of this are that:
